A/V integration in operating rooms has become a key component of the rapidly-growing revolution of medical information technology. Increasingly, surgeons are looking for the most efficient methods of controlling, sending and receiving video imagery (largely captured by HD-SDI camera sources) from the operating room.
The Challenge
The cardiology unit at a hospital and research institution in Southern California needed an A/V system that was flexible enough to meet the complex needs of the medical center’s new remote conferencing and training facilities. The out-dated A/V system on site was supported by a single-platform SDI routing system that required multiple converters to broadcast live heart-valve surgery, resulting in signal interruption and various incompatibility issues.
