Advanced Medical Simulation at Cedars-Sinai

Advanced Medical Simulation at Cedars-Sinai

INTRODUCTION

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion houses a state-of-the-art Operating Room and Trauma Processing Simulation Center, designed to train medical professionals in realistic, high-pressure scenarios. The 26,000-square-foot facility provides doctors and nurses with a controlled environment to practice procedures, improving efficiency and patient care in real-life situations.

THE CHALLENGE

The original AV system could not support the immersive, high-definition training requirements of the new Simulation Center. The team needed a solution that integrated with existing legacy equipment, was user-friendly, and could deliver reliable HD video across multiple rooms, control stations, and training environments. Complicating matters, the project had a tight three-month schedule and a limited equipment budget, requiring a solution that maximized performance without delays or costly workarounds.

THE SOLUTION

Cedars-Sinai partnered with Level 3 Audio Visual and Media Management to design and implement a robust, backwards-compatible AV system. PureLink’s PureMedia™ Cross-Platform Modular Matrix Switchers and Extenders provided the backbone of the installation, offering ultra-fast HD video routing without the need for additional converters or supplementary devices. The system’s hot-swappable input/output cards, optional Ultra HD capability, and router-based audio matrix routing ensured flexible, reliable performance across all training spaces.

PureLink collaborated closely with the Cedars-Sinai engineering team throughout the design and installation process, customizing the solution for every technical requirement. The system enabled seamless video distribution to operating rooms, training labs, and control stations, creating an interactive, immersive learning environment for medical staff.

THE RESULT

The PureMedia solution delivered high-definition video routing and reliable signal distribution across the Simulation Center, allowing staff to focus on training rather than troubleshooting equipment. The scalable, modular design ensures the system can grow and adapt with future technological advancements, providing a long-term solution for Cedars-Sinai’s evolving medical education needs.

THE REVIEW

“I didn’t feel the same level of commitment from other manufacturers. PureLink’s support was first class – they worked with us every step of the way, ensuring the system performed flawlessly from day one.” Thavaro Soeur, Media Engineer and Project Manager at Cedars-Sinai
