From Sanctuary to Screen: St. Patrick’s AV Transformation

From Sanctuary to Screen: St. Patrick’s AV Transformation

INTRODUCTION

Since its founding in 1974, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has experienced significant growth and expansion. As the parish population increased and new facilities were built, the church continually adapted to meet the needs of its thriving congregation. Recognizing the importance of delivering high-quality online experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, the church decided to upgrade its audiovisual capabilities to enhance both worship services and livestreaming for its members.

THE CHALLENGE

Before turning to PureLink, the church struggled to find a comprehensive product line needed to complete the job efficiently. Additionally, this project was an undertaking during the pandemic during which most manufacturers experienced massive delays, some being over a year.

THE SOLUTION

The system design was led by Patrick Millet of Pro Audio and Video Contractors LLC who brought 27 years of experience in providing AV solutions. Millet leveraged his extensive expertise to carefully select and install a range of PureLink products.

This custom-tailored system featured three strategically positioned VIP-CAM-100 cameras to capture the altar, ambo, and cantor locations. The VIP-CAM-CTRL1 controller allowed seamless switching between camera views, while the BS-601 broadcast switcher ensured stable connectivity, delivering a professional, TV broadcast-quality livestream. The HEMEXA audio embedder and extractor integrated with the church’s existing digital mixer for crystal-clear sound. PureLink’s UHD-120 video scaler connected the livestream to an in-house monitor, and the VIP-Stream-100 II streaming encoder broadcasted the feed to Facebook and YouTube. Using PureLink cables throughout ensured a fully integrated setup.

THE RESULT

The exceptional quality of the VIP-CAM-100 cameras, the VIP-Stream-100 II streaming encoder, and HEMEXA audio embedder and extractor significantly improved the church’s livestreaming capabilities, leading to numerous new livestream job requests from other churches. The system’s reliability and quality impressed dozens of churches, prompting them to seek similar setups for their own livestreaming needs.

THE REVIEW

"PureLink’s comprehensive product line and exceptional quality initially sold me on their products. I love that PureLink offers a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all livestream needs. During the pandemic, their ability to keep products in stock while other companies faced massive delays, some over a year, was mind-blowing. Every aspect of the PureLink products has been incredibly helpful, and their tech support is invaluable. I would definitely recommend PureLink to other firms." – Patrick Millet, Pro Audio and Video Contractors LLC
